Rejuvenate Your Eyes With SmoothEye®

Rejuvenate Your Eyes With SmoothEye®

Your eyes might be the window to your soul, but if wrinkles around your eyes make you feel older than your years, what can you do? Sunscreen, proper hydration, lotions, and eye creams go a long way in keeping your skin soft and supple, but if you need an extra boost, it’s time to consider rejuvenating your eyes with Fontona SmoothEye® nonablative laser treatments.

Under the leadership of medical director Dr. Eugene Tanquilut, our team at VCI Med Spa in Tinley Park, Illinois, offers SmoothEye treatments to firm up and tighten loose skin around your eyelids and tackle those periorbital wrinkles without the need for plastic surgery.

What is SmoothEye?

SmoothEye is a nonsurgical and noninvasive ER:YAG laser treatment designed to rejuvenate the area around your eyes. ER:YAG 一 which is short for Erbium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet laser 一 is a type of laser skin resurfacing.

Laser treatments produce different wavelengths for different purposes. ER:YAG lasers emit a wavelength of 2940 nm, which can successfully address the signs of photoaging.

During your treatment, the laser energy gently warms the deeper layers of your skin to about 42-45 °C. This temperature stimulates your collagen to contract and triggers fibroblast activity

These two events — collagen contraction and increased fibroblast activity in your cells — lead to firmer and more youthful-looking skin. The tighter your collagen contracts, the firmer your skin appears. You can think of collagen as scaffolding that supports your skin.

As a result, the firmer skin can help rescue the appearance of crow’s feet, sagging skin, and even puffy-looking eyes.

What to expect after SmoothEye treatments

Unlike cosmetic eye surgeries, such as blepharoplasty, SmoothEye is a quick procedure with minimal downtime. The laser energy is applied in a nonablative manner called SMOOTH® Mode.

This mode delivers light energy in even temperature-controlled pulses that don't cause bleeding or skin injuries. You might feel as though your skin is sunburned after treatment, but this is temporary, and redness eases up in about 24-48 hours.

Following your treatment, it’s important to protect your skin, wear sunscreen, and continue an appropriate skin care routine designed to protect your natural skin barrier.

As your collagen production continues, you’ll notice an increase in firmness and rejuvenated skin over the next few weeks. Because the treatment encourages your body to ramp up your own collagen production, the results are long-lasting.
